Israel is at War - General discussion (pt3)
Aren't you ignoring a little something? Calling to de-escalate, Biden says Haniyeh’s death has ‘not helped’ negotiations US President Joe Biden said Thursday night he was “very concerned” that violence in the Middle East could escalate, adding that this week’s assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran has “not helped” efforts to negotiate a hostage-ceasefire deal in Gaza, where Israel is at war with the terror group. Israel has not commented on Haniyeh’s killing, but has been blamed for it by Iran and Hamas, who have vowed revenge. Biden said he’d had a “very direct” conversation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier in the day, repeating the phrase “very direct.” https://www.timesofisrael.com/calling-to-de-escalate-biden-says-haniyehs-death-has-not-helped-negotiations/ Biden: Haniyeh assassination didn’t help ceasefire deal Asked about the effect of the elimination of Hamas arch-terrorist Ismail Haniyeh on talks, Biden remarked that it has "not helped." The assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh didn’t help efforts to secure the release of 115 hostages in Gaza, US President Joe Biden told reporters at Joint Base Andrews base late Thursday night, as he appeared to blame Netanyahu for the absence of a deal. “We have the basis for a ceasefire, he [Netanyahu] should move on it, and he should move on it now,” Biden said, as he referenced the three-phase proposal for a hostage and ceasefire deal in Gaza that he had unveiled on May 31. https://www.jpost.com/breaking-news/article-813014 Netanyahu, Defiant, Appears to Have Gone Rogue, Risking a Regional War Ignoring the efforts of President Biden and the condemnation of many allies, the Israeli prime minister is forcing the pace of the war and feeding the revolt of the far right. Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, came to Washington last week to give a defiant speech. Despite international condemnation, he vowed to continue the war against Hamas in Gaza and the West Bank, where Israel is killing and imprisoning scores of Palestinians each week, without any clear idea of its endgame. The assassinations of senior Hezbollah and Hamas figures abroad have now sharply raised the risks of a larger regional war as Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah prepare retaliation, analysts say. https://archive.ph/hX8US#selection-945.0-949.186 A good case can be made that Netanyahu is trying to drag the US directly into war. -

DTV requirement “Professional portfolio showcasing… freelancer status”
I thought the payment is done during initial DTV e-visa application, no? Then after that they might or might not require additional documents... Is this how it works, or the payment is done after submitting the additional documents (if required)? -

Thailand calls for strict e-cigarette law amid rising seizures
i am not in favor of e-cigarettes, which by the way are not absolutely devoid of health risks like some blind-folded lobbyists advance. But it is still less harmfull and stinky than actual cigarettes (must admit that some vaps have a pleasant smell though...). So here's what might happen. People who chose to cut down fags and vape instead, as a "lesser evil", will revert back to real tobacco. And on we go.... -

Human-Induced Climate Change Creates Olympic "Heat Dome" Crisis
No frustration here. My life goes on as always, driving my ICE car and no prospect that I'll have to buy an EV in my lifetime. Do tell what the "silent majority" are doing, as I can't see anything much happening? I'm sure there are some in NZ that actually believe the sky will fall if we don't ban oil, but none where I live, and it's all mostly ignored, except perhaps some teachers and IMO easily impressed students. BTW, Who's moaning. Only the climate change warriors, IMO. -

Restaurant Industry Faces Over 50% Drop in Spending, Urges Govt for Immediate Stimulus
Follow the tour buses: parked by the dozen on Jomtien Second Road at all those mass-feeding buffet places. Big open-air sheds, 200+ tables. Packed out. That's the Chinese. Apart from that, the market should sort it out. Those with a solid business plan and a decent location will survive. Why these so-called business associations always cry for help from the government is beyond me. When the going is good, have these associations ever volunteered a higher tax or revenue contribution to government coffers? Never. But suddenly their sector's financial problems are supposed to be off-loaded onto the broader community via tax relief or subsidies or crude handouts. Ridiculous! -

Apple Withdraws Ad Amid Thai Backlash, Extends Apology
A Thai company was involved in making the movie... they could not see what they were making?? Besides that.. Thailand is still not entering the 21st century with all outdated laws, rules, cars, and the way people think. No surely it is a mirror, but the truth hurts so maybe it is an opportunity to make changes instead of all the commotion. That will do much more harm to the tourists industry than let it go... Maybe it will attrack a lot of people to go on a vintage holiday destination
