Well known Chulalongkorn virologist Dr Yong Poovorawan went on his own Facebook page to praise Thailand's vaccine strategy progress.

He said that the country was on the right track noting that 110 million doses of vaccine had been administered in the kingdom, part of a worldwide rollout of 10 billion jabs.

His main message was that the combination of vaccines such as Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca and Pfizer along with a Pfizer booster was ideal in ensuring that people would not have serious effects from Covid if they got infected reported INN

He said studies had shown this.

He said Thailand was on the right track and expected that data from the use of Moderna as a booster would also show that it was highly effective.

I like Yong. I think that his impressive mane of white hair lends a lot of authority and gravitas to what he says.

So message is “vaccines are good”, yeah we know . “‘stating the bleedin’ obvious” but to who exactly? Tell us something we don’t know already.

Strategy, what strategy? This country was a total shambles thanks to the idiotic minister and his dullard boss. It was reduced to buying expensive and near useless Chinese stuff which is now proven to give zero protection against Omicron. And as for Pfizer, he obviously has not read the reports that show is is less effective against Omicron than Moderna and will need a modified vaccine to be used in the near term. This silver haired smooth talker is a media hound not a believable authority.

He either has a very selective memory or alzheimers

The blind leading the blind.

Strategy?  What strategy? They were way behind last year to get enough vaccines for the first shots and now they also seem to have no clear plan to roll out boosters.

It has been four months since my second Pfizer vaccine here in Chiang Mai.  When and where can I get a Pfizer booster.  I asked at Airport Plaza but was told I had to have at least six months between my second vaccine and the booster, yet several people I know and several posters here say they have been able to obtain a Pfizer booster after only four months...where and how can I do this in Chiang Mai?

Apt Plaza is the place to go. Strange they told you that. We got boosters 3 months after, Pfeizer indeed. Try again?

That was my first thought too. But on a similar forum two days ago one reply reminded us that this guy is Thai, an authority speaking to Thai people, and recommending positive action.

His message is not directed at us. Most Thai people do not read international news nor understand foreign languages.

I for one am thankful for his work on behalf of his country. The truth is valuable regardless of its origin and seldom does damage by being repeated.

Also, he looks yonger than he is.

ok, let's accept this point of view. So, he is preaching to Thais subscribed to his FB page.

But then why do we, on an english speaking forum where everybody reads international news, have to be subjected to his more or less daily posts as well?

Any conflicts of interest we should know about good doctor.
Pfizer A number 1 'eh?  Hummm.  ????

When "top doctors" start promoting brands is give me reason to pause.

I was told from a friend who went to Royal Garden Mall in Pattaya for a Pfizer booster shot. He was turned away and told the people with 2 doses of Pfizer could not receive a Pfizer booster shot. Is this true or was my friend pulling my leg?

Because the forum managers make editorial content decisions, not the readers. Note that the moderators also have the power to delete any posts or replies they desire.

You of course have the option of scrolling past any or all articles in any given edition. I exercise this right frequently, especially the perennial posts about golfing and other advertising gambits.

Gove it a try. You'll be glad you did.

As an alternative, you can start your own forum. Then you too will have absolute power of censure.

Well there appear to be guys in this country and around the world who question the value and use of the vaccination programs, so it still hasn't gotten through to some of them, and I particularly liked this comment from a judge in New Zealand, when he was confronted with a guy who couldn't pay his fine because he was out of work – – why?, Because he said he couldn't find work as he was unvaccinated, and this was the judge's retort which I thought was marvellous: –

"Judge Ruth asked what reparations Fensom was able to pay and defence counsel Michaela Brus said he was only able to pay $30 a week but was already paying some other fines.
His defence counsel said he was also now unemployed because of the vaccine mandate.
"You won't get vaccinated?" Judge Ruth asked Fensom.
"I have got no sympathy for him," said the judge, saying he was putting everyone at risk. These nutcase views will not be accepted in this court. You should be ashamed of yourself," said Judge Ruth.

"Pfizer booster just the ticket"

Its pretty much the only ticket.

As usual all the eggs in one basket approach.

Did they even finish getting the original Sinovac people up to full spec yet?

Agree. Interested only in non-political medical statements from western specialist professors or institutes. this is repetition of almost childish quality , presumed politically driven and for Thais not farang so not needed here.

Up to you. I am more eclectic in my choices of news sources preferring to get a wider perspective in pursuit of a wider truth. It's always about judgment.

I’m a big picture / top down / rational guy. Once I’ve found gold standard subject western sources, I won’t waste time checking & building confidence elsewhere. Sources from tyrannical  / unfree countries can be dismissed as unreliable or lies.

Subject is medical research sources not “doctors”.
