A step closer to decriminalisation of cannabis and hemp in Thailand

The Narcotics Control Committee agreed Thursday to decriminalise the use of all parts of and extracts from cannabis and hemp in Thailand by removing the plants from the Category 5 list of narcotics, paving the way for households to be able to grow them. A draft announcement from the Ministry of Public Health, approved today, will be submitted to the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) for approval.

Although derivatives of cannabis and hemp were removed from Category 5 in the amended Narcotics law, promulgated on December 9th, the plants themselves remained on the Ministry of Public Health’s list, leading to widespread confusion.

The only exception to the decriminalisation is for cannabis extracts with a THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content exceeding 0.2% by weight.

Then what is the point...it's nonsensical on that one point - what would people grow it for in those quanties at home except to smoke weed and get high....

Cake for everyone. Yippee.

OK, no frosting for you.

Wait, wait, no no cake for you.

Chew on the candles, while looking lovingly at a picture of a cake.

Will the average plod be given testing equipment to check if your 'home grown' is 0.2% THC or less?

That is so poetic.

Bring tears.

...

Thx.

I wonder what the fine is if one grows a plant with 0.3 % THC.

Great news. So it's legal to grow it and the only stipulation is if you make the extract, which I won't.

I'm in like Flynn.

Not only that, but so many people will be growing, it will be impossible to monitor.

Meanwhile, the cannabis oil I get from a famous hospital contains 2.7% THC and is technically illegal. But this is Thailand, after all.

I get 20% and I am sure it is, because I tested most of the THC available anywhere in Thailand.

Must be the same guys who come up with the rules for traveling to Thailand. perhaps if they allowed people to smoke the week it would all make sense

If I read this right you can grow weed at home and smoke it the THC content is irrelevant. The OP states  "cannabis extracts with a THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content exceeding 0.2% by weight."  If you grow and smoke it - you have not extracted THC to make an oil or another processed derivative.  THC is a naturally forming part of the flower. It is not an extract unless in the form of an oil, wax or vape juice and so forth.

What I read in earlier reports is you are not allowed to

let the plant flower , so they giveth then take away, just

knew there would be a big BUT...

And yet here it  states "use all parts..."

Clear as mud i think is the correct phrase. - however Lazada seems to be doing a good trade in the sale of seeds...and i don't mean hemp seeds.
