The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration stressed at a meeting yesterday that Chinese New Year celebrations in the Thai capital must follow strict Covid Free Setting protocols.

The meeting was chaired by deputy governor Pol Lt-Gen Sophon Phisutthiwong, reported INN.

Restaurants, markets, shrines and gatherings will all be subject to the protocols.

Families have been told to take all possible measures to protect themselves during the festival.

What Thais call "trut jeen" is celebrated this year from this Friday to next Thursday.

The warning comes as Bangkok had more than 1,000 Covid cases for the sixth consecutive day and two more deaths.

The meeting heard that 237,543 ATK tests had been carried out discovering 11,064 cases. No timeframe was reported for this.
