When to apply for a multiple re-entry permit

Recommended Posts

I am re-initiating my retirement visa extension having lost it due to absence from the country due to Covid.

I now have a O visa which ends in early March my IO has said I can apply for the retirement extension 45 days before it expires.

In the past I have always done the visa extension and a multiple re-entry permit at the same time. So here is the question:

If I apply for the retirement visa extension well before the "O" expires can I also apply for the re-entry permit at that time and will it start from the day I apply (and be valid for 1 year from that date?) or will it run from the the date the retirement visa extension starts?

Or would it be better to wait until the start date of the retirement extension to apply for the reentry permit?

Thanks

You obtain your reentry permit after you obtain your 12 month extension.

I don't even bother obtaining it at immigration when I do my extension.

I prefer easy process for reentry permit at airport on way out.

Can a multi re entry or single re entry both be obtained at the airport?

Yes.

Single 1000 and multi 3800 baht.

At Swampy the office is just past security check and prior to passport check.

Zone 2.

Best to have your required photocopies etc however they offer service 200baht for paperwork if you wish.

At DMK the office is just behind the passport control.

You can see it clearly from the io desk.

Easy to do at Suvarnabhumi. Be sure to do it before before passing the immigration desk. Print and complete the form with picture before going and it takes typically 5 minutes these days (did twice there in last year). Staff always friendly and helpful IMO and they even transferred a multi re-entry permit to new passport for me a few years ago.
