Prime Minister’s Office Vice Minister Seksakol Atthawong said today (Wednesday) his new Ruamthai Sarngchart party can also accommodate Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, because he does not trust the politicians in the ruling Palang Pracharath party (PPRP).

The former PPRP MP who announced his resignation earlier this week told the media that he is not sure that Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, also the leader of the ruling PPRP, will be able to control all their politicians, many of whom he said he does not trust, judging by their voting in the last censure debate.

A fierce supporter of Prime Minister Prayut, Seksakol, alias “Rambo Isan”, said that the prime minister has been under intense pressure within the ruling party and he cannot let him become isolated within the party.

in thailand, the prime minister is a military....he doesn't need a party to accomodate him as he can seize power whenever  he wants

The fun and games are getting interesting.

Knives are out.

In other words: When the people vote for your new party they are going to get exactly the same politicians they so desperately want to get rid of?

Well done, Mr. Seksakol!

Amazing how some can whip a political party into existence in a week, while others struggle for years to form a party, only to be undone by some minor rule issue.

Oh well, all for the greater good I guess.

A person shall enjoy the liberty to unite and form a political party under the democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State, as provided by law.
The law under paragraph one shall at least contain provisions relating to the administration of a political party which must be transparent and accountable, provide party members opportunities to widely participate in defining policies and nominating candidates for election, and prescribe measures to ensure that the administration be carried out independently and free from manipulation or inducement of any person who is not a member of such party, as well as oversight measures to prevent members of a political party from committing any act which violates or contravenes laws relating to election. (Sec. 45)

There is an Organic Act on Political Parties, as specified in Sec. 130 of the constitution. I haven't found an English version.
