Valentine's Day: Even elephants can fall in love - tusker with the biggest attributes scores with widow

Daily News reported on a mock wedding at an elephant camp yesterday in Chiang Mai to mark Valentine's Day today, February 14th.

 

Getting hitched at the Mae Sa camp were 39 year old Ot - who has the biggest tusks in the camp - and 23 year old Pangkhunsap or "Mae Paen".

The happy couple were given various bows and tied together with "sai sin" - auspicious holy string. 

 

They were then treated to a wedding cake feast made up of bananas, water melon, rice and cereals.

Camp director Anchalee Kanmaphijit said that loved blossomed between the pair after Mae Paen - who has a three year old offspring - was widowed when her previous mate dropped dead. 

 

They have proven to the world that elephants as well as humans can fall in love, gushed Anchalee.
