I am aware that my wife can apply for her visa 3 months before her visit. Does anyone know how far in advance the appointments are available. Are they released in blocks or can she submit the application but book the appointment for say 3 or 4 weeks in the future.

You can book what is available and later change the date if you need to push it out.
