A 50 year old Lamphun woman had a close brush with serious injury or even death after a lamppost on a truck went through her windshield.

Thai Rath had pictures of the scary incident yesterday on the San Meuang Road in the northern Thai city.

The truck had braked sharply and the pole slipped. Pheeramon couldn't brake in time in her Teana but she was uninjured.

The poles had a flimsy piece of red cloth on the back to satisfy the law.

Lamphun police left Pheeramon and the truck driver Jakraphan to discuss compensation.

The pole would have slipped forward if the truck braked sharply.

How would that cause it to be projected backwards into her windscreen?

She was driving too fast/close and/or not paying attention, and drove into the pole when the truck braked.

Agreed, law of physics would have the pole moving forward if the truck braked heavily.

She was too close behind to stop in time or didn't even notice the poles.

the writer of the article clearly wasn't paying attention in physics class at school. it's fairly obvious that the load would move forward when the vehicle braked. either the load was not secured properly and slipped off the vehicle due to forward motion, or the car driver drove into over hanging poles.

More likely the writer didn't include the swerve and brake done by the truck driver. Those concrete posts were probably a lot closer to each other before the accident.

Note; it's normal for cars to hit posts so not news but I'm glad no one was hurt.

Backwards is your assumption, the article only says "slipped".

I agree with your last statement.

You also don't seem to pay much attention, read again.

But do we know if the truck was moving forward or in reverse ?
