BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Health Security Office (NHSO) has confirmed the procurement of 7,000 dental implants for patients who need complete denture prosthodontics.

According to the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul has presided over the approval of the procurement list of medicines, medical supplies, and medical equipment for the fiscal year 2022. On February 25, 2022, a Public Health subcommittee approved a campaign for the NHSO to build a collaboration network between the public and private sectors to provide a comprehensive system of dental implant surgery.

The campaign also prioritizes using domestic dental implants from Thailand’s innovation list, with two options of procurement. The first option is central procurement which provides direct dental service to the patients. The second option is central bargaining, which allows patients to negotiate with authorities on acceptable quality and price based on the ministry’s list. The ministry has approved 7,000 dental implant sets with a budget of 21 million baht for this fiscal year. The cost is determined based on 5,513 patients on the list and the use of two sets per person, for a total of 11,026 sets, but the purchase was restructured to a six-month period procurement.

The Ministry advises people to follow updates from the NHSO on its official website https://www.nhso.go.th/ or call the 1330 hotline number for more information.

Why does the government have to be involved in every aspect down to the last detail?
