Thailand is planning to export 10,000 tonnes of chicken products to Saudi Arabia this year following the resumption of diplomatic and trade ties between the two countries.

“I would like to congratulate CPF (Charoen Pokphand Foods) for being the first company to export chicken products in this inaugural container which represents the new era of trade between Thailand and Saudi Arabia,” Jurin Laksanawisit, CPF’s commerce minister said on Monday.

Jurin added that this would be the first shipment of exported Thai chicken products to Saudi Arabia since the middle-eastern country banned the import of these products 18 years ago in 2004.

So a deal between Thailand and Saudi Arabia and written on a sign in English ?

As a Brit I'd feel a little hurt signing a deal with Thailand and they welcomed me with a sign in Arabic !

If you thought the price of chicken had risen before . . .

1. Great, but I hope they remembered to process it according to the receiver's religious rules.

2. Exported frozen, then thawed on arrival? ... not the best thing for meat.

3. Chicken "products" - I wonder what that is exactly ... raw legs and wings ... frozen breaded nuggets ... eggs?

Thailands' not exporting chooks to Saudi...CPF are!

Killing and eating animals is disgusting.

Oh dear

Millions of happy chicken flying to Saudi Arabia.

Hub of chicken.

Feels good to see a banner with chicken and not the usual ones with 25 special command police and a few farangs in front, who had a small party.

Just spotted at the Saudi embassy in somewhere.

Mum said to kids: Now, all behaving nicely. We will get our visa stamped on our happy trip to see some Saudi friends.

Yes indeed. When I read the headline "Thailand to export....." I thought "Thailand" should be replaced with "CP Group".

Used to enjoy the Thai frozen chicken when i was in Saudi plus other Thai products its a big Market for CP and other Thai companies

Plus the Thai work force being allowed back in  has to be a positive for Thailand

CPF is now so big a monopoly that it is assigned it's own Minister to enable self-congratulation....????
