A concerned member of the public called Wattanaporn, 24, stopped on her way home to offer assistance to two cute Siberian Huskies playing dangerously in the street.

It was going down near the Chat Luang housing estate in Klong Luang, Pathum Thani.

Wattanaporn said she took into her care two dogs aged about 3 and 2. She feared they would have a road traffic accident.

Meanwhile Padungkiat of a Klong 3 rescue unit arrived to take over the care of the huskies.

He has been appealing on social media in the area for the dog's owner to come forward.

He said he would look after the dogs at his house until the owner comes forward. He left a phone number with Thai Rath

Thai Rath made several references to Siberian Huskies being "naa rak" or cute.

No such beast as a cute dog, they are all pests in one way or another.

Unlike the dogs who, bark all day and night, <deleted> all over the place, sit outside 7/11, stink out houses and cause a traffic risk, not to mention attacking people and killing kids as well as a rabies pool!

Humans kill more kids than dogs do. They are all pests in one way or another.

I have seen quite a few humans doing all of that, but screaming at the top of their voices instead of barking.

I guess your more of a cat person then.

I find it to be cruel to bring a breed of dog that is basically bred for extreme cold to a hot country like Thailand.

But for many Thais, it seems to be some kind of "look at me" or fashion statement.

I have seen these dogs chained up, or outside under a shaded roof, where the air temp is still in the high twenties or more, panting like crazy.

They are large dogs, and if anything would cause one to snap or bite, it would be overheating.

Totally agree, I also love dogs but I would never put one through the misery of being confined in a small area just for my own happiness/entertainment. Same goes for all pet animals actually.

That is a fundamentally flawed Strawman's arguement - just because there are child deaths at the hands of humans (during war etc), does that mean child deaths from dogs any more acceptable ?

What you have implied is that ‘because more children die in wars that the dog problem is not as severe its not a problem...  Now, I don’t think you mean that, I’m sure you’d agree any ‘unnecessary death’ is wrong, especially child deaths - So... Just because war’s exist, it doesn’t mean any other form or child death is more or less acceptable.

Drawing the comparison to lessen the emotional impact of child deaths through animal (dog) attacks is not a solid argument.

Agree...

Not just Huskies, but many breeds of pets - there is no social responsibility or accountability regarding animal cruelty here.

If someone beats a dog that bit their child they get into trouble... But the person who leaves their dog outside in a cage in 35 deg C plus heat is not considered cruel.....

These Huskies and many other canine pets make for very cute puppies until they get larger, then they are no-longer ‘narak’ and get palmed off on relatives or discarded etc...

The whole culture surrounded dog ownership and soi dogs in Thailand is wrong - This whole ‘do nothing’ about a problem is wrong.

Its difficult, but in any society people should have a licence and be able to prove they can look after a pet well, be able to train it and prove an understanding of its needs.

There are too many owners that give in to want and end up with a problem which then becomes a problem for others.

Is your argument that because humans can attack and can make a lot of noise, it becomes acceptable for dogs to do the same ????

It's wrong for both....   in using the comparison you don’t exonerate animals from attacking, you are simply highlighting that humans can also be atrocious - that doesn’t make a dog attack acceptable in any way.

The underlying argument you are attempting to present is utterly flawed.

Why would anyone bring a cold climate dog like a husky to Thailand?  They happily sleep in snow!  The heat here must be torture for them.

Takes one to know one .......................

There are farangs coming from cold countries and can’t stand the heat, but still manage to live happily and survive here, so do Huskies!

But, the greatness of a nation and his moral progress  you can judge how  they treat their animals (Gandhi)

Not so if generally looked after. Huskies have a 2 layer coat which insulates them from heat and cold . They have problems when idiots shave them and they lose the ability to stay at a reasonable temperature in sun. Most are also born here so have less problems than one that is brought here from a cooler climate.
