Death Threat To Thaksin Thickens Political Plot

very hard to imagine that the military won't continue in an unhealthy relationship with the government instead of being it's servant.

Reasonable point. Of course I think we'll see this for some years to come. But, no way a continuing junta. We might see a delay, but not much, or investor confidence will wane.

NLA cool to lifting political ban

(BangkokPost.com) - National Legislative Assembly has set up a panel on Wednesday to consider a bill to lift coup maker's Announcement No. 15 that prevents parties from engaging in political activities.

A 15-member panel has been set up to consider a bill to lift Council for Democratic Reform's political ban within 7 days.

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont earlier called for a quick passage through the NLA in three straight readings.

Constitution Drafting Committee chairman Prasong Soonsiri expressed disagreement with Gen Surayud's remarks on Tuesday, saying there was no need to rush it.

So, let me see. Some goon came out with some rubbish yesterday that, if there were elections in the third quarter, this would lead to the economy growing in the fourth quarter (Mid presented his flying pigs for that). :D

Now, we are 10 days away from the start of said third quarter and it is proposed to keep the ban on political activities... :o

What kind of 'election' do they have in mind then? :D

This is a very interesting question. In the US, the presidential election is not until November NEXT year, and the race is in full swing already. One wonders what sort of election could be cobbled together in such a limited time.

just slot a referendum in there and we are good to go ...............

Just make up your mind what you want, guys.

Some are asking for immediate elections under old consitution, others want more time to campaign for the elections under new constitution.

Generals can't please everyone. Take it or leave it - elections in December.
