Bangkok has had as many as 30 gubernatorial candidates, yet none has paid serious attention to its acute problems of domestic violence, women’s safety, and the homeless.

Statistics show the capital has the highest rate of domestic violence, murders, and homelessness in Thailand.

Ignored problems?

Jaded Chouwilai, director of the Women’s and Men’s Progressive Movement Foundation (WMP), said that as far as he knew, no candidate for this governor election had mentioned Bangkok’s high murder rate.

Of the 384 murders reported in newspapers in 2019, 70 percent occurred in the capital city.

Not visible from the ivory towers of the posh-end.

The callous goons in the towers do not care one iota for the common Thai, and far less for those whose lives have been wrecked by their disastrous, highly selective economic shutdowns, and the millions who have lost their jobs, homes and dignity. It reminds one of the Third Reich's purity campaign, except without the execution part. Just leave them to suffer.

It is amazing how these guys go on and on and on about what they are intending to do, and never, ever talk about the sacrifices they are willing to make, to attract these new businesses and investors. A true COTU (Thailand is the center of the known universe) mentality, and it is so far from reality, it boggles the mind. Millions of jobs have been lost. What is being proposed to help those families get back on their feet?

The one principal here, that they have still not come to grips with, is that Thailand needs the world, 100x more than the world needs Thailand.

No question unemployment is way, way up, the economy is in the toilet, and the policies have failed miserably. Whether or not the tourism sabotage was deliberate is questionable, but a question worth asking. A bit of a neocon type agenda? Destroy the industry, reduce it to rubble, get rid of the nightlife and the industry, and rebuilt it from scratch, in the image of great purity of the "noble ones". Quite a diabolical possibility.
