The Ministry of Transport has set up two panels to look into the circumstances surrounding the collapse of a wall and roof of the new service hall at Don Mueang airport during a storm on Monday.

 

Deputy permanent secretary of the Transport Ministry Pisak Jitviriyavasin, said today (Wednesday) that one panel will look into the structural engineering aspect and the other will examine the construction contract.

Pisak said that he has instructed Airports of Thailand (AOT), which oversees operations at the airport, to check all buildings to make sure that they are safe before the arrival of the rainy season.

Two panels to come to the conclusion that it was shoddy building..?

My guess would be that a construction engineer would be pretty good at finding the reasons for structural failure but have little clue on contract law !

 

That said , I agree with you. Just more jobs stretched out for the boys that could simply have been under a one Panel roof

Why the need for a special panel... or two for that matter.

The building inspector would be able to make those findings.

Okay... rhetorical question... no building inspector.

Job creation and also spread the responsibility so no one can be blamed for drawing wrong conclusions.

Is the all wood terminal still planned for Swampy?    If so, Swampy says to Don Mueang, "Hold my beer and watch this!."

He maintains that the building is still within its warranty period and the contractor is obliged to undertake the repairs.
