Sentenced to two years, but a suspended sentence, and has to pay 45,000 baht. What the **** kind of sentence is that, and what kind of message does it send? No jail time, and a piddle little fine that won’t even make a dent in his drinking money for a Saturday night out with the guys. What a joke the Thailand legal system has become.

If you dont pay the fine-then it can be deducted on a daily bases while you stay there.

That said is there anywhere else in the world where they say, OK your guilty, So come back in a couple of years and start your sentence.

I know where I come from-how many would turn up for that.

So rather pointless then, he gets to commit the crime and walk free.

Conditional sentence or suspended sentence we call it in the west. A normal verdict for first time offenders.

I thought this guy was arrested for the Nong Chompoo case! I know he got bail but assume the case is on-ongoing - so how can he get a suspended sentence for another crime.

Yes.

It was non stop watching on TV for the elderly Thai folk.
