That is not a ditch, it's a gap between highway roads or flyovers.

Looks to be a water drainage ditch seen on many parts of Suk road in Laem Chabang, Yes it is in the centre between north and sounthbound lanes.

Thailand in not know for safe driving nor the best roads.....

Take your pick:

(1) Fell asleep / micro sleep in Thai (lol!)

or

(2) On his phone

They seem to like #1 more as it's more face-saving!!

As a newt.

According to police figures over Songkran, most accidents happened on straight roads.  Why do Thais have this suicidal penchant for veering off the straight and not-so-narrow?

These trucks that just fall off the roads should be recalled. lol ????

(3) One less of these local male jerks in pickups to worry about.       Couple days ago on Beach Rd in front of Hard Rock: one of these pickup jerks parked then proceeds to make a U turn heading North the wrong way , then shortly makes another U turn and proceeds South. No amount of driver education can prevent these people not playing with a full deck.

I usually get 2-3 cars or trucks coming at me the wrong way down the railway line Rd every 6 months.  More likely on holidays when there are Thai tourists about.... Mind you, the road has  been there since about 2006 and there still isn't any no entry signs or one way road signs telling folks it is a dual carriageway. When it first opened they couldn't actually make their minds up on that and it was 2 way each side of the tracks for a spell.

I see crashed pickups in these drainage ditches fairly regularly on my way to and from work in Laem Chabang.
