July 1, 200422 yr Giant ballot boxes to attact Bangkok’s voters BANGKOK: -- The government is worried about the lack of interest in the forthcoming election for the Bangkok governor. In an effort to overcome the apparent voter apathy, the local authorities are using the world’s biggest ballot boxes. To drum up public interest in the election, Poh Chang Campus of Rajamangala Institute of Technology will build the four of the world’s largest ballot boxes. These will be placed on four of the capital's main thoroughfares. The promotional campaign is also enlisting the support of students from more than 30 of the city's educational institutions. The students are expected to help encourage Bangkok's residents to vote at the forthcoming gubernatorial election, scheduled on 29 August. The students will work with the Election Commission (EC), and will be involved in nearly every aspect of the election, including the election campaign, the vote-counting, and the final verification of the election result. -- TNA 2004-07-01
