Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said on Wednesday that he is confident Thailand will be upgraded back to Tier 2 of the US Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report in 2022.

 

The country was demoted from Tier 2 to Tier 2 Watchlist in 2021.

“The results from all the anti-trafficking efforts showed the government’s clear intention to prevent and suppress human trafficking activities,” Prawit said while presiding over a meeting of the state committee on the prevention and suppression of human trafficking at government house.

 

“I believe that Thailand should be promoted to Tier 2 in 2022,” he said.

The results from all the anti-trafficking efforts showed officials direct involvement in human trafficking activities...

Thailand is still in the thick of people smuggling... no hope mister.

With many companies willing to employ illegals.

Well he should know better than others about human trafficking as he was named as being directly involved in trying to interfere in the investigations.

Just a few days ago there was a report of trafficked Burmese being arrested at the border after being abandoned by smugglers. The US and the international community have repeatedly emphasized to Thai authorities that trafficked persons should be treated as victims rather than criminals, but it never seems to sink in.

They're not Thai so they must be criminals.

Wonder why a guy like this is still not on a "no fly list" and unwelcome in the rest of the world. By looking at his face I would advice the USA authorities to put him on the list as one of the reasons why they are not downgraded.

Start arresting and prosecuting some of your cronies and associates, and the world will begin to take you more seriously. Until then, your inane psychobabble will be believed only by the remaining 2% of the loyal diehard ultra conservatives, who cannot think outside the box. You credibility is next to zero.
