Mid Posted June 18, 2007 Share Posted June 18, 2007 PM calls urgent meeting of 20 ministry-level agencies, security agencies June 18, 2007 : Last updated 10:53 am (Thai local time) Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont Monday morning called an urgent meeting of heads of 20 ministry-level and security agencies at Government House.The meeting started at 10 am. Speaking to reporters before attending the meeting, Surayud said the meeting would be held on security affairs related to the responsibility of the Internal Security Operations Command. He said the agencies would be asked to help the ISOC to solve the security problems in the deep South. "The military cannot act alone on the problems. Jai Dee Posted June 18, 2007 Share Posted June 18, 2007 PM calls meeting of permanent secretaries and national security units Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont calls a meeting of permanent secretaries of 20 ministries and national security units for the first time during his term to discuss solutions to the country’s problems. PM says he decided to call the meeting as he sees that effective solutions to the problems have to be brainstormed by various government units. The meeting focuses on insurgency in the three Southern border provinces. The premier adds that only the military is not sufficient to tackle the Southern unrest which needs cooperation from relevant people. Jai Dee Posted June 18, 2007 Share Posted June 18, 2007 PM chaired ISOC meeting this morning Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont travelled to the Army Headquarters today (Jun 18) to acknowledge the Internal Security Operations Command Center’s (ISOC) work progress in dealing with security issues in Thailand. Gen. Sonthi Boonyaratglin, the Council for National Security (CNS) Chairman and ISOC Director, welcomed Prime Minister Surayud at the Army Headquarters this morning who later presided over the ISOC meeting. The meeting discussed the overall security situation in the country, including the demonstrations at Sanam Luang, the unrest in the three southern border provinces, and the suppression against narcotics. 20 ministers were invited to this meeting to acknowledge different security problems and solutions. The ISOC meetings were usually held on Mondays and chaired by Gen. Sonthi.
