They have the new highway, an airport, golf courses and not far from Pattaya/Rayong.

Lots of land available to build a huge economic center with surrounding services, hotels, etc.

If they plan and don't blow it, I bet by 2030 this area could be start to be a smaller version of Silicon Valley.  Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

The Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) has revealed that over the past 4 years, Thailand has been able to attract more than 1.9 trillion baht of investment to the EEC special economic zone.

Come bail us out, we can't do it alone.

Moderna wanted to invest in a production facility there. Someone didn't want it and Anutin didn't even bother replying to their proposal, allegedly.

Protectionism at work?

I know a Thai couple who both work there. He works on the line at Ford and she works at a motorbike headlight factory. They drive a new 4-door ranger and the New Year bonuses for both used to be 3 months salary (Pre Covid-19).
