Kwaibill
Well, "the time has come, the walrus said...". I am 68, multiple heart attacks and a couple of strokes. I can just about manage three kilometers walking anymore, and that involves multiple stops. My wife is quite good, but she is tiny and I am not. She is also not well equipped training wise to care for an old "farang kwai." Has anyone looked into care options here? I'm not ready for the chair in front of the telly bit yet, but would like to consider options to make it easier for her when I do lose (more of) it. Popular Post 1FinickyOne
You might want to mention where you would like to live... Chiang Mai has many options - private care is reasonable if you want or can afford it... 3 km is not bad - you might want to wait until you can't make it to the bathroom..
Popular Post CharlieH
If you want to help with your weight and mobility, may I suggest swimming. It non weight bareing and easier on the joints etc, also mild/easy cardio exercise. Just a suggestion ????
Popular Post Sheryl
While there are home care agencies in main cities that will provide a home health aid, it costs vastly more than the more usual approach which is simply to privately hire in help. Just ask around where you live to find someone willing/able to do it. If possible, someone who has worked as a nurses' aid (but not essential), Unless you require specialized nursing care there is no need for a professional nurse. Anyone with nurses aid experience, or experience caring for elderly family members, will do. If you cannot find a Thai to do it, it is possible to ring in a Cambodian or Burmese worker (takes about 6 months/costs about 20 k baht to arrange a 2 year visa, renewable once - need to do through an agent). The problem is to find someone. Bets way is to put the word out among other migrant workers. Cambodians and Burmese can enter Thailand visa free for up to 14 days so having prospective workers come that way first for an interview/week's trail, is possible. If a foreign worker it would be live in,which you may or may not want initially (but well might need eventually). 1
