cyril sneer
Is it possible to use the extended 60 days, fly out and back again to get 30 days(and extend this too) I would apply for a covid extension but been told this will make problems if wanting to change to a non b/work permit
DrJack54
You would be best to do border bounce and obtain new 30 day exempt entry. And yes you could obtain a 30 day extension to that entry. Even better is to obtain covid extension. No reason not to. Edited May 31, 2022 by DrJack54

Is it twice a year they will allow this?

It is safe to do two per year via a land border, though you should avoid the Aranyaprathet/Poipet border. By air, there are no specific limits. If you have been in Thailand for only less than two months, and were not in Thailand for a long time prior to that, then doing this by air is also safe, possibly even preferable, as it conserves those reliable visa exempt entries by land. You might really appreciate this if the job and work permit do not work out for some reason (not uncommon). Like Jack, I would usually suggest the Covid extension which should not normally create a problem with the Non B visa application, though it possibly might at a rogue immigration office.
cyril sneer
Okay thanks all, would ideally like a tourist visa but this way is looking cheaper and faster at the moment
