Canada Considers Joining The EU As An Associate Member

Featured Replies

So as a result of trump's incomprehensible and moronic trade war on Canada, the Canadian government is considering moving as close to the EU as possible without getting an outright membership.

One arrangement that is being discussed is an associate membership. This would obviously benefit the EU, but would be especially beneficial to Canada, who urgently need to reduce their dependency on trade with the s**t show to the south, which some have likened to having to live above a meth lab.

What an incredible piece of luck that in one of Canada's darkest hours, one of the most impressive politician/technocrats in living memory is running the country. Not only does PM Carney possess the brains, skills and minerals, he's also a unifier who has the highest popularity rating of any Canadian PM in modern times (around 70%).

"Although the EU is historically not known for allowing flexible membership arrangements with individual countries, European officials are reportedly open to Canada joining as an “associate member,” anonymous officials from both Canada and the EU told the Journal.

The details of a potential deal are still being discussed, according to the Journal’s reporting, but it could lead to increased trade between the two, including potentially shipping fertilizer through the Arctic and building new natural gas pipelines, which could help Europe end its reliance on Russian natural gas.

A deal could also see the EU and Canada collaborate to lay new underwater cables, launch satellites and build data centers as people on both sides of the Atlantic grow cautious of U.S. tech companies."

Canada would be better off joining the BRICS

to ( at least temporally) escape the clutches of evil megalomaniacs who would have us all 'eating ze bugs'

unfortunately the leader of Canada is

firmly in the eat the bugs camp and so that won't happen,

he'll just go along with the agenda whilst appearing

(half heartedly) to resist Trump's diversion tactics.

Winning, isn't it MAGA?

How much longer before in the US you have the choice between chicken with soybeans, soybeans with chicken or soybean chicken mash for lunch and dinner in the US?

They will only have a choice if they can afford it!

otherwise, it will soon be soup kitchen time if the "Bond Market" refuses any more bail outs!

The stamps will be unusable as they will have his photo on them which will require liking before sticking onto the claim form!

On the very limited menu, instead of "crumpets" they will be called "TRUMPETS" with a compulsory free sick bag!

Please God let this happen!

Well I always thought that Montreal was very European.

Got it. You are unfamiliar with the secession movement in Alberta. You get points for blatantly admitting your ignorance

Not true. They're just quietly sending their military into EU countries and the UK (and Canada), awaiting further instructions.

Got it. The fact that there is a secession movement means secession will happen. Lol.

Exactly how does making Canada an associate member of the EU benefit the UK?

Mark Carney is an absolutely brilliant man and the extent to which he has countered Trump's moronic and juvenile tirade's and his ridiculous invention of a war on a friendly neighbor, are wonderful. Anything Canada can do to diminish America's influence is a gift to the entire planet at this point.

The extent to which the trash man in America has diminished American prestige and influence cannot possibly be calculated. The negative ramifications of the nitwit snowflakes' second term will be felt for a very very long time. Woe is America.

Hmmm, why would they send their troops to countries that aren't involved in the war? Is that MAGA thinking again?

You can be sure there are a lot of sleeper cells already in the US waiting for instructions

Trump is getting to be the insurance salesman who

sold policies to his friends until he had no friends left !

It's very insignificant. Nothing burger

I moved to Canada right before the 1995 Quebec referendum. That was a vastly more serious independence movement, and the final vote was decided by the absolute razor thin margin of less than a percentage point.
