Hi, I live in London, I visit Thailand frequently, last returned to London 28-5-04. I am married to a Thai girl name Chayada Panthong since 9-8-2001 at reg. office Prakanong licence no 1903/ 136XXX. Chayada Panthong I.D. No. 3-3102-00XXX-XX-X. everything has always been ok between us. But three weeks ago I lost all contact with my wife. I am very concerned as last year she had to have a very serious operation to remove a tumour and maybe she is in hospital again or worse.

Her email is full and the following phone numbers of her friends and family bring no results as they don’t speak read or write English and I don’t speak Thia her ID is registered at her fathers house where she was born Burriram. No postal address known to me and no phone number. I suppose I also have to consider that’s she may have left the country, nut up to 28-05-2004. she did not have passport. She was last residing at sisters apartment Bangkok no address known.

Sister Name (A.) 063425819 Bangkok

Friend 051463308 Bangkok

Friend 063421341 Bangkok

Friend 079839096 Bangkok

Can you help please, no one else can. (Despirate)

Sincerely

John M. Stott.

Let us know how you go Frankie, and thanks for helping.

I rang the sister's number at about 3:40 this morning (Thai time), as it was an emergency - well, that's what I would have said if they'd sounded annoyed. But it was busy (fast beeps), maybe switched off. Was going to try again later, but I'll check this thread first.

Hi John Scott

I am sorry about your wife, I tried to phone the numbers you listed

They are all disconnected , have music on when ringing, or nobody answers, only 1 number got an answer "Friend 051463308 Bangkok" - a Thai male, obviously a friend from Buriram.

The connection was not very good and he spoke with the local dialect. As far as I could understand (and hear) your wife is up in Buriram with the family. This Thai friend was at work and couldn't really talk too much on the phone. I think we agreed to talk again this evening, maybe I'll let an "esarn" friend help with the conversation, if she's around in the evening, it may help with the information.

I don't think it is a great idea to post her id card no in a public forum.

Go to the Thai Embassy in London ( Queensgate ) and take the information you have on her ID etc. Initially ask for a First Secretary, or Counsellor ( Minister Counsellor if you are lucky that is the order of promotion ) and discuss your worries. It takes little to try. You might just get a sympathetic one. Good luck mate.

Hi John,

I hope the following information about

phones in Thailand will give you a bit more "Hope"

First Phones beginning with 05, 06, 07

are Mobile Phones. The handset can be anywhere.

(I understand you believe the holders to be in Bangkok)

Owners can Program their phone number to play Music

when someone phones them instead of hearing

"Ring Ring"

If you can hear Music - then the Mobile is ON

not disconnected. But the Owner could have

put the settings for the phone not to ring or make any noise

- while they are asleep - or at work, for example.

But they will get a Missed Call message.

If the phone is Switched off a caller will not hear the Music

- they will get a Network Message saying the Number

is switched off or out of signal range.

I do hope that someone will be able to speak in the local dialect

for you to one of those numbers soon.

Roger

Married 3 years ,no address from home or sister ??

Friends in BKK ??

Maybe the man is honest, but i smell something

Frankie you are a good guy,try again en keep posting

RGDS

I feel really sorry for the guy. Imagine how it must feel to get into this type of situation. I wish you all the best!

seems kinda funny to me also,no addresses and nothing but some cell numbers,,must not have got out of the bar much.

How much money are you sending each month and what address do you send it to or has she got an ATM card?

not much to go on. :o

I have been trying to make sense of it also.

But I really don't.

After 3 years of marriage and one week after your last visit to Thailand, wife disappears and what do you do?

Post a message on a forum with phone numbers that do not really work.

Or from people who do not want to talk.

What are you looking for exactly?

If you really think something happened to your wife, should you wait 3 WEEKS before coming back here?

Or contacting the embassy.

Or some friends in Thailand.

Sorry but I just do not buy it,...

Asked to help by somebody nobody knows, as his first post, as well. As much as I like to help out where I can, I'd like to ask for credentials, like

-what are YOUR contact phone numbers?

I almost got on the phone this morning, too, then I thought, what if there are 20-30 people doing the same? Easily classifies as causing a nuisance.

There was another, not related, call for help in the German language thread, asking to post in German to a corny e-mail adress without further explanation.

Addendum.

I'm afraid you very much know what happened.

As much as I suspect what happened.

Especially one week after your last visit.

Unfortunately, you are not the first one.

And not the last one.

....

What are you saying, BC? Do you know the poster?

Sorry, thinking again, I get it. You are probably right.

What are you saying, BC? Do you know the poster?

Not at all.

Just a few thousands of his brothers,... :o

So what is Mr Stott's response to this latest news etc?

John

A Thai aquaintance got thru to one of the numbers.

I was subsequently told:

1) your wife is well

2) she is in Bangkok

3) she has read your e-mails

I guess you must be aware of other things

that were mentioned which I will not post here

which apparently explain why you have not received

any replies to your e-mails.

I was sympathetic to your call for help

but I do not wish to be involved

further with your family disputes.

You are of course free to place your

further posts here ...

but I do not wish to receive any

PM or e-mails from you

Hope you understand.

Roger

It looks like this guy is a troll as he has not even had the courtesy to reply, even after all your efforts, time and energy spent. Could he aslo be a stalker and collectively we have helped him tracked down one of his victims?

Yes, something a bit strange here.

The initial post is now more than 36 hours ago so how come the guy has not come back with/without any updates.

No thank you or kiss my arse for all the effort put in by several people.

Maybe he is creating an alibi for himself. Wife missing, but he couldn't be involved cos he's in England or wherever.

:o

Marvelous piece of "detective" work from many sides. :o

Seems that there are many friends to be found in Thailand after all :D

But posters who want our help should be sincere and honest

Don't drag us into your personal problems and / or "sleazy" ideas :D:D

... Because next time nobody will help out with advice, time and expenses :D

My sentiments exactly...........

The majority of expats should be familiar with the fable about "the boy who called wolf"
