I am on the 3 month “O” retirement visa that expires August 15. (1) what is the earliest date I can go for the one-year renewal, and (2) will I get the stamp same day — or be required to return 2 weeks or so later? (I need this info in order to time a flight out of Thailand for the summer.) Thank you if you are aware of this information.

How early you can apply depends upon the office where you apply for your extension. Some allow up to 30 days early and others 45 days.

Your extension will be approved on the day you apply. There are couple of offices that have your return the next day to pickup your passport with the extension stamp in it.
