Celebrity faces trouble in latest "Thai drama" after filming herself eating a protected lizard

Daily News Thai Caption: Monitor lizard eating show!

Daily News reported that top Thai country singer or "look thung" Kratai Phannipha could be in deep trouble.

She filmed herself eating a spicy dish known in Thai as "Phat Phet Laen" - it contains a kind of monitor lizard called a takuat in Thai, a protected species.

A post on Twitter @RedSkullxxxsaid that the lizard is #40 on the protected species list.

People who keep such animals face five years in jail and/or fines of half a million baht.

It wasn't mentioned what you'd get for eating one, notes ASEAN NOW.

Yet here was Kratai chomping down on the lizard and declaring that that her teacher husband Phaiboon's dish was "aroi" (yummy).

Daily News said it was the latest Thai drama and caused a storm of controversy and comment online.

Many people said the consumption of takuat was quite normal in the countryside - though posting about in on social media was daft.

Many people said they didn't realise that "laen" and "takuat" were one and the same.

While others suggested that Phaiboon should know better, what with being a teacher.

A good old case of the trots, at the very least.

Looktung Indie would be more accurate, how is she also a 'teacher'? No problem eating rat, frogs, insects or almost anything else though????

She is not ... her husband is.

If there is no problem, we make problems.... Why do people show stupid things and why is the media jumping on it??? There is much more important news than this kind of nothing

My Thai gf watches many of those "hey, look, I am eating" videos. What's the point of watching other people eating something? I asked her, she couldn't explain it and I think to keep the peace I better don't mention it anymore...

I understand when people watch how to cook and prepare meals. Fine, we might learn something.

But eating? And worst are the "look, I can eat 5kg noodles, etc." videos. Stupid!

Such typical massive hypocrisy of such “ protective bans” with prevalence of Wet Markets, for all manner of Toxic Wildlife ( foul tasting & unhealthy I suppose), all over East Asia for “Bushmeat”. ????

No worries re. “ monkey pox” then ? ????????( or species- jumping viruses ?).

Thus.. what else does she eat...

It's more interesting than talking to her BF?

It's the same point as FB or Instagram friends feeling the irresistible urge to shower you day after day with pics of each and every meal they've had - from breakfast to supper. It's mind-numbing.

If she had sprinkled some marijuana on it, then she could have said it was "aroi mak mak."

A friend of mine did the same, every meal had to be photographed, edited and posted before eating... then the videoing started.

Not just her meal but every ones until she was satisfied.

Note the "past tense" it got so boring I said I'd rather eat without all the fuss....

In Thailand they eat a lot of things they should not eat. One time a member of my family caught a Anteater, [one that does so much good for the country] and they were going to have it for dinner. Well it cost me 500 baht to save it's life. They all thought I was stupid, but I didn't care and I took that Anteater way into the woods where nobody would find it. And yes we had boring old chicken that night.

By the way, thanks for that lovely thought of yours as my FIL saw you and it tasted great as we had not had one for  a while.????

She looks a bit mean to me. I like the moody ones!

You would like her, not just the lizard scoffing, mrs says she is a 'slut lady' and fan club go away. Something to do with stealing somebody's husband, sounds a bit of alright to me. Never liked the casual dress like she just got off a bus, I like them costumed up with the belly button showing on stage and a bit of twerking at least. ????

Exactly why I do not subscribe to those social medias . Above are some of the pointless reasons why so many young people and not so young  have their heads buried in their phones . How did we get through our teens without a mobile phone ?  What is annoying is that some companies have their web pages on these sites and because I am not a member , they may lose my business .

A big apology wai, a nominal fine of 400 Baht and off she goes; double if they nail the hubby as well.

Welcome to the educated semi-divine left-overs of Neanderthal ........

Yeah, I would have missed out on all that boredom.

How did we used to cover up the fact we had nothing better to do, was it to light up a cigarette?

How unimportant Thai people are.

But got to have there 3 minutes of fame on the internet.

Look at me, Look at me. how sad they are.
