BANGKOK (NNT) - Authorities will travel to Chiang Mai province to check in on government projects and initiatives on Wednesday (29 June).

According to Government Spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, along with other cabinet members, will inspect progress on initiatives in the region, including tunnels transferring water to and from Mae Ngat Somboon Chon Dam to address the area’s depleting water supply amid industrial, tourism and population growth.

He will then preside over the opening of the FTI Expo 2022 - Shaping the Future Industry event, which will take place from June 29 to July 3.

On Wednesday afternoon, the premier will travel to observe the coding school excellence center program at Wat Weruwan School, which offers students education in coding and digital innovation. The program was initiated by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) and related agencies to improve students’ skills and make them experts in digital technology.

Gen Prayut will also visit the province’s Mae Hia subdistrict to inspect the digital transformation taking place in local administration, which has led to more efficient management and better public services for the local community.

I can't imagine there will be even hundreds of locals who will welcome him. As for traffic jams, he usually scuttles around by helicopter so that he is kept safely away from the dangerous folk. 555, what a joke!

In April 2022 the Region 5 Appeals Court on Wednesday handed over to the Treasury Department a 89-rai plot of land at the foot of Doi Suthep. This land was originally a gift from military ownership* to the Court of Appeals (a traditional conflict of interest?).

I believe the original deal between protesting public leaders (ie., The Network) and the Prayut government was that as a minimum all residences (45 houses and nine flats) would be removed with Appeal Court courts & offices remaining. In place would be reforestation.

Albeit now it appears that the land will be used or developed in line with the "local community's initiative" with a "provincial committee" to carry out the restoration.

The government had four months then to vacate the occupied and partially built residences and begin removing associated infrastructure.

It's almost July - what's been accomplished?

* In Thailand the RTM can hold legal title and economic benefit to natural resources and enterprises separate from Thai federal government title. In some ways the RTM enjoys independent sovereignty from the traditional (ie'; elected) Thai people's government.

I wonder how he'll do that?
