I have recently relocated to Bangkok on a retirement visa and updated my new address details with my bank account overseas.

As a result I am now being asked for a tax iD number for Thailand.  As I am not working here and have no income in Thailand am I still able to apply for a tax ID and just submit a tax return each year here thereafter with nil income?

I plan to go to the local tax office here next week and apply for one and see what they say but any insights from other members on this topic as to how they deal with overseas banks or brokers requiring a thai tax ID when you move here would be appreciated.

Also if there is a link to the form to complete please can you provide it.

Thank you.
