Women's Football - France breezed into the Euro 2022 quarter-finals with a game to spare by beating Belgium 2-1 to progress as Group D winners. 

 

Italy and Iceland were forced to settle for a point each as their hopes of advancing to the quarter-finals of Euro 2022 were left on a knife-edge.

 

1-1 was the score. Iceland have two points from two games and face group favourites France in their third and final group game and Italy face Belgium.

 

Chelsea have ended their interest in signing Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

 

The 37 year old Portuguese international wants to leave the club and has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. But after signing former Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said his "focus is on defence".

 

Golf - After day one of The British Open being held at St. Andrews Scotland Rory McIlroy  shot a six-under-par 66 to finish two behind American first-round pacesetter Cameron Young, who hit a bogey-free 64.

 

Australian Cameron Smith, is at five under and was joined on that mark by England's Robert Dinwiddie.
