Thailand's meals: Yet more complaints about measly food portions - this time noodles

Thai media continued their reporting of complaints about measly food portions.

Earlier this week it was all about rip-offs in childrens' school dinners at a kindergarten and a primary school.

Now Daily News focused on a post by Facebook user "Ma'may mayy" who posted on a Pathum site after she ordered noodles from a shop via Lineman.

She said she would normally go to the shop but was "khee kiat" (lazy) to go out.

But when she poured her dinner into a bowl she said that "a hungry person would cry".

There were just three "look chin" (meatballs) and a few strands of pork.

This she said "cost 50 baht yes you read that correctly 50 bahtttttt".

She demurred on mentioning the name of the shop.

But added that she would have had a fuller belly if she'd just boiled up a plate of Mama instant noodles.

Daily News went with the facetious headline that for "50 baht you could be full in this life until your next life".

A reference to Thai belief in reincarnation.

ASEAN NOW have as yet been unable to confirm what the price of noodles will be in the next life....

Indeed, it's "buyer beware" when ordering food delivery.

People complain when the prices go up.

People complain when the portions get smaller.

And people will complain when their favorite restaurant goes broke and closes because they could neither raise their prices nor shrink their portions to survive!

Restaurants have to charge prices based on the portions they serve............ or serve portions based on the prices they charge. That's it! Those are the only two choices! And when inflation hits their food cost just as hard as it hits your own grocery bill at home........... maybe just a little understanding is in order? Maybe? Just a little?

----------------

But regardless of that..........

How is one example......... from a single order......... from a single location......... a story?

Maybe the person filling the order was having a bad day or not paying attention. Maybe they just made a mistake with that ONE order! Did THAT ever occur to anyone?

Of course not.

Because, just as the poster herself said, she was "too lazy to go out," the storytellers here at AseanNow.......... were too lazy to find out if there was actually story behind this story!

Sheesh! At least find out if what the woman had been delivered was the "new normal" for that restaurant......... or merely an abberation, eh? But nooo....... that'd be too much like work. Or......... say........ journalism!

Crikey!

Something has to give this time it looks like noodles. If the give more than they have to raise the price than nobody buys. A bit of a catch 22 for the shop owners.

Well the restaurants that get orders online like grab or food panda get hit quite hard by the charges.  To make money on the order they either have to charge more or give smaller portions than what you would get eating there.

ShrinkFlation ,but in this case looks like smaller portion

and price rise, cannot see any meat in it, you are going

to need 3-4 of those for a meal.

What makes you think she has the energy to go into the kitchen to do that ?

Looks like double the price, for half the meal

So thats 400% increase in costs

I know these are hard times, inflation, bad tourism, and such,

but if you double the price, then give the normal amount of food, and dont play it 2 ways

anyway, I wouldnt eat it, id rather have pad krapao kai daw

????
