Football -  Belgium reached the quarter-finals of the European Women's Championship for the first time after overcoming Italy 1-0 to claim second place in Group D which means  Iceland saw their Euro 2022 tournament come to an end, despite snatching a dramatic 1-1 draw against already-qualified France.

 

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a one-year contract extension that commits him to AC Milan past his 41st birthday.The Sweden striker, who turns 41 in October, scored eight league goals last season as Milan beat rivals Inter to the Serie A title. 

 

Staying with AC Milan, they say police apologised to midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko after he was stopped as part of a search for a suspect involved in a shooting.

 

The incident happened in Milan on 3 July but went viral after being shared on social media. In the video the 27-year-old, who is on loan from Chelsea, can be seen being searched by a policeman while two officers point a gun at a car. After a conversation between the officers the Frenchman is released.

 

Cricket - England's World Cup winner Ben Stokes will retire from one-day international cricket after today's series opener against South Africa in Durham. The 31-year-old, who made his debut against Ireland in 2011, has scored 2,919 runs, and taken 74 wickets in 104 ODIs.
