Cambodia reiterates support for Timor-Leste’s application for ASEAN Membership

Cambodia has reaffirmed its unwavering support to Timor-Leste’s application for the ASEAN Membership. The commitment was made by Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in a recent congratulatory message to his East Timorese counterpart Taur Matan Ruak on the momentous occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

“I will continue working closely with Your Excellency to further strengthen and deepen our bilateral ties and cooperation for the mutual benefit of our nations, thus contributing to peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond,” the Cambodian Premier added. Mr Hun Sen further noted the consistent growth of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations on July 29, 2002.

“Cambodia and Timor-Leste have also worked closely to support each other on matters of common interests at the regional and international frameworks,” he underlined.
