The Phetchaburi Municipality has been meeting to consider the possibility of introducing a system of more one-way traffic locations in the city.

The project raises the question of whether more one-way traffic roads may be considered for other regional centres where traffic congestion frequently occurs, especially during holiday periods.

Mr. Somchai Lertprasitphan Deputy Governor along with Mr. Kittipong Theppanich, Mayor of Phetchaburi have co-chaired the meeting.  The project aims to resolve traffic issues, problems and obstacles being experienced by road users, including public transport operators and for shop keepers.

In the past some one-way roads have been introduced but the municipality has been advised that a system should be more comprehensive to resolve the traffic issues.

It was noted that some roads in the city area are no more than five metres wide, making it difficult for vehicles to pass each other.

The process will now conduct surveys and seek more community input over the next 60 days.

The problem is not during the holidays, but during when the students go to school and home.. Everybody want to wait at the gate with their vehicle beause they are afraisd to walk two metres.. Besides thereare cars parked where it is forbidden, pavements full of vendors, and the police disrupting the traffic even more. Thai people are afraid to drive a bit further than normal, better do the difficult road.. Better options should be different times for students to go home.... at least additional...Ok it is a start.. but there are 8 schools in the area that they try..... we will see
