Fire Fire Breaks Out at Platinum Fashion Mall, No Injuries Reported
Pictured courtesy of Khaosod. Shoppers at one of Bangkok’s busiest fashion hubs were forced to flee onto the streets on the afternoon of 23 August, after a fire broke out inside Platinum Fashion Mall in the Pratunam area. The blaze began around 14:00 on the third floor of the complex, inside a clothing store. Witnesses described scenes of panic as crowds rushed to the exits while smoke quickly filled parts of the building. Firefighters and rescue crews from Phaya Thai Fire Station were dispatched and managed to bring the situation under control within 20 minutes. An initial investigation found that the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit in the shop’s control panel. No injuries or fatalities were reported, though officials said the incident caused significant disruption to weekend shopping. Authorities confirmed that damage was limited to the affected store, and the mall was later declared safe for reopening, after smoke was cleared. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-24 -
