Police in Suphanburi, central Thailand, know the identity of a man who hit and killed an 87 year old man outside an Agricultural Cooperatives center on Route 340.

The corpse of Sawang Rerai was dragged 300 meters before the driver fled the scene in the direction of Ang Thong.

He then hit a mum and dad and their child on a motorcycle at the Sam Ko intersection breaking the father's leg and both the mother's legs.

They are in hospital.

The owner of the souped up pick-up Panuwat Wongsuwan, 20, turned up at Si Prachan police station with his mother Sujira to profess his innocence.

He said he had lent his vehicle to his stepfather Chao Bunseng, 50, who was going to see his mother on mother's day.

Sujira, 53, urged her husband to give himself up, it would be better for him.

Both mother and son expressed sympathy for the victims and their families.

Si Prachan police captain Kornwit Meedee said that witnesses had been interviewed and confirmed it was Chao.

If he doesn't surrender a summons and arrest warrant will be issued for negligent driving causing death.

Sujira said she did not know if her husband was drunk, reported Thai Rath yesterday.

drunk as a maggot is the main way these idiots drive to  hit and kill people yet the police do not go after them and wait for them to turn themselves in, shows how pathetic the thai police really are and how they refuse to actually do their jobs

Not saying who did what ..but Thai mother protecting her son ..husband stepfather. Down the list of hyrakie. Who to blame......

...who was going to see his mother on mother's day...

Was the driver's nickname "Boss" by any chance? A souped up car sound like the modus operandi of the infamous Red Bull rich kid. Will this driver be apprehended and be punished?

Why can't they just issue a summons and arrest warrant anyway? Why wait for him 'not to surrender' and how long will they wait? 15 years?

It's a bit like saying to someone, "If I don't call, everything's ok." which is pretty stupid, as losing your phone, dying or being in an accident would stop you from calling! ????????

Why wasn't a police officer despatched to the registered address of the car immediately? Arrest the owner on suspicion then investigate. Something very weird about this.

That would be far too pro-active of the RTP......they don't think like that.....

Why not go out and arrest him - that summons will be sent on the post probably twice before they get off their proverbials they go after him. Total incompetence

Agreed. They are so lazy they’d rather have the culprit come to them. Thai police continue to be a disgrace to the Kingdom.

Get a warrant and find the ba$tard... a nationwide man-hunt is done for a foreign spear fisherman how about one for a murderer?

in a western  country he would be charged with manslaughter and as guilty serve 7 years NO PERROLE
