Jai Dee Posted June 23, 2007 Share Posted June 23, 2007 Police arrested about 500 illegal foreign labourers The Crime Suppression Department under the Royal Thai Police arrested about 500 illegal foreign labourers at the Parkland Condo project in Sukhumvit soi 105, Bangkok. Police divided the labourers into three groups, including Thai workers with identification cards, Thai workers without identification cards, and foreign workers. Following the arrest, police said around 500 foreign workers have not been permitted to work in Thailand and they are now being detained at the Crime Suppression Division. At the same time, about 100 Thai workers did not have their identification cards with them, and police are now checking their historical and residential data. The police from the Crime Suppression Division with arrest warrants raided the site of a luxury condominium in Bang Phli district after receiving a complaint on illegal migrant workers. During the raid, police found over 500 undocumented male and female workers from Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Unregistered with the Ministry of Labour, the workers have been detained and are now awaiting repatriation. Their employer is charged with providing accommodation for illegal migrants. About 100 workers tried to escape into a nearby forested, but police searched for an hour and arrested all of the migrant workers. Socalled "Subcontractors Scum" could hold of their request, mind you not demand!!! for a fair wagepayment for a couple of months. If the heat was on they,the subcontractors, called the police.....who where happily "assisting" in arresting them and deported them back to Burma. without pay offcourse. i bet they do the same with all the poor surrounding Thailand.
