A senior police officer inspecting the Pattaya Police Station was reportedly 90% satisfied with how things were at the station.

 

Pol. Maj. Gen. Saratoon Pradit, Commander-in-chief of the Inspection Division 2 of the Inspector General Office, on Thursday, August 18th, visited the Pattaya Police Station to meet with Pol. Col. Kullachart Kullachai, Pattaya Police Chief, and inspect the station in six areas including.

 

1. general services
2. criminal justice administration
3. protection of life and properties
4. management of traffic
5. personnel administration and development
6. practices of police technical tactics

I would like to tender my input on the evaluated areas, but consider the words, inept, non-existent and laughable to be more appropriate across the board, than the spurious but resounding vote of confidence being shown, because we all know its not true.

There have been many improvements in the cops over the last two decades, but they are still way too closely connected financially to most of the illicit goings on that they should be stopping. The fire at the nightclub/restaurant proves how backhanders keep bad stuff going, and it's rampant even now across the board.

I don't think cops anywhere in the world get it 90% right, and I simultaneously don't think Thailand is going to be close to the top ten, let alone leading the way.

 

 

They forgot to include 

1. Best practice - stand over tactics

2. Correct use of plastic bags on head and face

3. Identification of potential marks

4. Correct laundering of money 

5. Reallocation of drugs and stolen property

6. Protecting and aiding and abetting of rich HISO criminals

Come on folks, in this NO FAIL society how can they be anything else, remember bruised egos, loss of face and general well being all at risk if anything less !!

I've been here 18 of 20 years and have not noticed any improvement in 

1. general services - still largely invisible
2. criminal justice administration - still mainly done by sleight of hand at road blocks
3. protection of life and properties - except on public holidays; weekends from 1pm Friday; every night after 4pm; never before 10am
4. management of traffic - road casualty figures higher than Covid deaths
5. personnel administration and development - few women allowed into police college; waistline development continues apace
6. practices of police technical tactics - like using unwieldy grappling tongs on fleeing farangs?

It's a bit like your mum marking your test paper!

After all, 10 % UNsatisfactory score could mean an awful lot of misgivings from those entrusted to " Serve and Protect "
