The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES) said that cases of fake news regarding storms and natural disasters were on the rise as Thailand faces daily monsoon weather.

Noppawan Huajaiman was commenting on the monitoring of stories in the news for the period August 19th to 25th.

One fake news report spoke of nine storms all coming at the same time that would inundate Bangkok with flooding while another spoke of three storms coming all together, reported Siam Rath.

She advised the public to get their weather news from the Meteorological Department on their website or by calling 1182 or 02 399 4547, available 24/7.

ASEAN NOW went to the website and discovered for Bangkok from today to September 4th residents could expect temperatures from 25-35C with rain storms daily covering 40-80% of the capital.

Noppawan said that in the past week fake news about storms made up 10% of the total number of cases that were investigated.

166 cases were investigated and 14 were about storms.

In the period under review fake news about Covid was down to single figures, she said.

The three top fake news cases were 3,000 jobs being offered in South Korea at 70K a month, loans of 5,000 baht to 300,000 baht being offered via Line from the Government Savings Bank and #3 a bogus report about the GSB having a new online page.

Thank goodness this young lady is keeping us safe and avoiding us the trouble of having to think for ourselves.

I wonder how many people are employed in the fake news department of the DES. Excellent use of taxpayers' money I'd say.

Fake news being reported? No, no, no I cant believe it.

Those are way better belief odds that I got last week.

I'm so pis.ed!!!

I tried to circulate a fake new story that Donald Dump as in fact (fake fact) innocent but it just wouldn't fly.

I was trying to work out how come my alternative fake fact didn't take with others then I realise all those I disseminated this alternative reality with were by far and above sane human beings.
