AYUTTHAYA, Sept 2 (TNA) – Defence Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha visited Ayutthaya province to inspect flood prevention efforts including the construction and maintenance of embankments by the military.

Gen Prayut paid the visit together with Deputy Defence Minister Chaichan Changmongkol.

They went to Wat Kasatrathirat Worawihan to see the construction and maintenance of embankments. There they gave moral support to soldiers from the 11th Cavalry Battalion who installed 2.2-meter-high stainless steel embankments on a distance of 490 meters and stacked up 11,800 sandbags to prevent flooding.

More likely Prayut is shoring up support from his military mates just in case he loses his prime minister position and has to regain it by force.

From what I understand he no longer has any Influence on army matters as the new chief has him sidelined and has the ear of HM.

Doesn't say much for all those who went before.....................

Unless you actually think flooding in Bangkok has only occurred since 2014!.  ????

The military regime has done very little for the majority of people since they came into power 8 years ago, and as you rightly pointed out neither had any of the previous parties in power.

Most were more concerned with in-fighting, self enrichment and personal status.

Hopefully now the new Bangkok official can do something from his position and use the allocated budget wisely.

To be fair, the road building under the junta has been massive.

Now, whether that has simply coincided with an influx of Chinese money, I wouldn't know.
