"Those guys rode yaks and buffalo," and today people drive cars and trucks and fly on airplanes. It's the mode of transportation that was available at the time. Our life expectancy now is a little over 70, and that is part of what is contributing to our continuing destruction of the Earth's environment - human overpopulation. I had to look up IRL and found out it means the Republic of Ireland. So what does Ireland have to do with all of this? I do associate Ireland with having, at least at one time, a very family-oriented, socialist society, but that's just what I've read. I've only been to Ireland once, and then only for a few days. Thailand, like most countries, has a mixed economy. It is a mix of capitalism and socialism. But Thailand's mix has a much higher percentage of socialism than most Western states. I do appreciate that. North Korea claims to be communist, but it's not. And North Korea's government is a dictatorship, and I don't like that. My first choice would be a democracy, but I'm also okay with living in a republic like Thailand or even my home country, the USA.
