I have a friend returning to Thailand next week from Holland having been there for a few months. He has had 4 Covid jabs and has a valid up to date Thailand retirement visa. Is it still a requirement to show documentation for a clean Covid test on arrival and if so what is the maximum time before, that it can be done?

But the answer is NO......no vaccination checks in Bangkok SUV on arrival.

Although he will need to show vaccination book/certificate at checkin.

You really should read my post. I was not asking about vaccination checks, I was asking about clear of virus check.
