Lots of past threads disscusing licenses.

Basically, At the local DLT (dept of land transport) if you have a license from home country, you show it, with a medical cert, and a resident certificate, do a basic reflex/eyesight test.

If you dont have an existing license, its as above with an additional knowledge and driving test

-Nationality / Visa type.

-How long have you stayed here this stay (90 day report filed ?).

-Hold a licence in your home country.

-Province you are currently in.

 

This information is required to tailor a response - as different Embassies may or may not issue an Affirmation of residence, it depends on your visa. 

Immigration may or may not issue a Certificate of Residence  (depends on your location and if you have done a 90 day report).
