An armored truck carrying over 10 million baht crashed into a street barrier and killed three men working in the vehicle in Pattaya last evening, September 27th.

Mapprachan Highway police led by Pol. Lt. Col. Nakhak Siriphan and Pattaya Sawang Boriboon rescue services responded to a fatal vehicle accident on Motorway Route 7 leading to Pattaya at 5:30 PM yesterday.

The wreckage of a large bronze Toyota Vigo armored truck was found in a dry drainage ditch beside the motorway. Highway police told The Pattaya News that the truck was registered in Bangkok and was used by Siam Administrative Management and a security guard company to transport around 10 million baht from various businesses.

From the linked article:  "The money-filled safe was moved to the Mapprachan Highway police station for safety. Pol. Lt. Col. Nakhak Siriphan told The Pattaya News that he would notify the company later to retrieve the safe."

Why wait to notify them?  As a motter of fact shouldn't they have been notified before they took safe?

It is a mistake to indicate the amount of money cash being carried.  In Europe, at least in England, the press are instructed to publish that an unknown amount of cash was being carried.  The same applies with ATM robberies.  Full details encourage further attacks.

I should imagine that, when the vehicle came to a sudden stop, the armoured safe kept going........

How did the BiB know how much cash it contained?

Thai news reported it as being "up to ten million" - maybe that's their starting balance to go out topping up ATMs, depends how far into the run they were as to how much in the safe - they'd also be collecting from the deposit part of each ATM.

As you mention, police wouldn't know
