The Constitutional Court has given Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha a political lifeline with a ruling that allows him to at least complete his current term of office.

The big question, however, is what it means to his political future.

In the much-awaited ruling, the court this afternoon determined that constitutionally speaking Prayut’s tenure as prime minister took effect beginning in 2017.

So they are in fact basically agreeing his time in office from 2014 till 2017 was illegal?

Never Happened??

Didn't count???

Seems he is PM for life, if he wants it. A Shakesperean tragedy for the people of this good nation. Shame in the judiciary. No spine. No integrity.

So if he was given Royal Decree in 2014 to be PM  by the King does that mean the CC are showing La Majeste & should be prosecuted under such is the law? Will probably be removed but hope not as think it's a valid point

The man is now seen worldwide as a dictator and a joke of a PM

I don't think so.  Another article said that the rule or the court only came into play in 2017, so they would start counting from then.

Righteousness? How can that word even be used in the same sentence as this completely partial court? The people consider this court to be a joke. It has nothing to do with justice. No connection whatsoever.

Yep. Just like that.

Ain't Thai political magic enigmatic.

The court is purely symbolic. Almost noted novel.

The puppet master at work, per usual.
