Cambodia against Russia’s move to annex Ukrainian regions

Cambodia does not support Russia’s referendum in the four regions in southern and eastern Ukraine annexed by Russia. Prime Minister Hun Sen said Cambodia opposes the creation of a new state, a separatist state and the use of force against other countries.

 

“Cambodia opposes secession. We oppose the establishment of a dictatorship, the separatism and the use of force or threats of force,” he said on Saturday while visiting the 3,000 families who have relocated to Run Ta Ek village from Angkor Park in Siem Reap province.

 

Mr Hun Sen said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had sought his advice on the Russian referendum and “we reaffirm our stance that we do not support it and that we oppose the establishment of a dictatorship, the separatism and the use of force or threats of force”. “The resolution drafted by the United States and Albania condemning Russia’s proclaiming the annexation of parts of Ukraine has been rejected by the UN Security Council.
