Police have now charged a 15-year-old boy who drove a BMW through a red traffic light and then hit and killed a 24 year old graduate  in Nakhon Ratchasima.  The  boys parents accompanied him to the police station where he admitted his actions.

 

Health authorities are taking steps to ensure women are able to undergo termination of a pregnancy following a recent change in the law. Legislation now allows women to terminate their pregnancy between 12 to 20 weeks. Thailand has 144 abortion facilities around the country.

 

The Deputy Speaker of the house is being investigated for alleged encroachment on a forest reserve in Nakhon Phanom.


A house committee is due to summon Mr Supachai, to make a statement over the accusation within 15 days.

 

Water authorities have warned of further flooding north of the capital as a major dam is releasing twice its usual amount of water following recent heavy rain.


Areas affected are central and eastern Thailand as well as Bangkok where many people living close to the Chao Phraya river have been advised to work from home.

 

Some 20 large  pumps are being installed in Chiang Mai to help alleviate flooding after water has run off from nearby mountains, several schools remain closed.

 

The government is being urged to investigate allegations of unfair competition in bidding for the right to invest in the Orange train line extension, which may have cost the government Billions of baht in public funds.


Last month allegations were made against the MRTA of organizing unfair competition in the bidding...in the project which was delayed for nearly 2 years. Investigations continue.

South Korea and the US military fired several of missiles into the sea in response to North Korea’s launch of a ballistic missile over Japan on Tuesday.


However The military confirmed that a South Korean missile failed shortly after launch and crashed, but caused no casualties.


Bangladesh: A power failure at the national grid caused power outages to more than 130 million people, that's 80 percent of the population yesterday afternoon, It was unclear what caused the outages. Around 90 percent of Power was restored last night  after around 4 hours.
