Thai Airways International to sign 30 billion baht aircraft operating lease

The Thai Airways International is expediting aircraft operating lease contracts in order to improve the company's liquidity.

The President of Thai Airways International, Flight Officer Apinan Sumanaseranee (อภินันท์ สุมนะเศรณี), reported that the Cabinet has decided to approve operating leases for eight Airbus A-330-300 to replace old aircrafts which have been in use for more than 20 years. Flight Officer Apinan revealed that Thai Airways International will be conducting a study on the 5-10 year aircraft leasing period.

The President of Thai Airways International reports that despite the higher costs of leasing rather than procuring aircrafts, the 30 billion baht leasing contract is expected to provide greater liquidity to the Thai Airways company. Flight Officer Apinan revealed that the move will allow Thai Airways to supplant its fleet with new aircrafts, while preventing the cmopany from being hindered by long term maintenance and costs for procured aircrafts.

The President of Thai Airways International affirms that the A-330-300 aircrafts are not outdated.

THAI-Airbus deal is still on

Thai Airways international's order for eight Airbus A330-300 jetliners worth at least US$700 million is secure, despite the cabinet's decision last week to convert the procurement into an operating lease.

The European planemaker and THAI confirmed that the order for the eight wide-body, medium- to long-range commercial aircraft has not been affected by the June 19 cabinet decision.

So now all they have to do is to improve food to basic eating standards. Recruit new staff and teach them the customer is at least as important as they are,.

Can see that happening. :o

...So they had sixteen A330s on order (purchase), and now only eight are to be procured, and by way of lease? Does this mean half the order was cancelled, or have the media gremlins got in the works and eight will be bought and the other eight leased (which doesn't gel)?
