NZ and Laotian authorities contacted after 8 kilos of "ice" found in packages at resort

Wanchai Chaimongkhol, the director-general of the Narcotics Control Bureau said that two arrest warrants have been issued and contact made with both New Zealand and Laos authorities after 8 kilos of ice (crystal meth) was found in two packages at a resort in Muang district of Nong Khai, NE Thailand on October 8th.

 

A man who had been asked to take the packages got suspicious and called the authorities.

 

They found four kilos of the drug hidden in a water filter and four more in cream cartons, reported Siam Rath

 

It appears that the drugs came from Laos and were headed for New Zealand.

 

Athorn, 22, from Phetchabun who was mixed up in a heroin shipment to Taiwan of 439.5 kilos in 2021 is believed to be involved.

 

A man called Santisouk from Laos is believed to have slipped across the border.

 

Arrest warrants have been issued and counterparts in both Laos and New Zealand have been informed.
