Daily News Thai Caption: Upstanding citizen

Daily News reported on another case that drew praise for an upstanding citizen.

It was no surprise that it was another Bangkok cabby.

Guy Jumsak, 46, had given a lift to Patcharee Thanwarakit from Banglamphu to the southern bus terminal.

But the lady was in a hurry to return home to Prajuap Khirikhan and forgot her shoulder bag in the cab.

Guy said that he was 2 kilometers away when he glanced back and saw a bag on the floor.

On discovering that it contained 60,000 baht in cash he hunted for ID but there was none.

So he called FM91 to report his find and then took the money to their HQ in Pahonyothin.

The passenger too had reported her loss to the same station and the owner and her property were soon verified and reunited.

Patcharee praised Guy who had turned her tears to a feeling of admiration for his honesty.

Guy said he would never contemplate taking anything that wasn't his. He'd once handed in 6,000 baht to the Bang Sao Thong police but that was the extent of his experience.

He has been a cabby for 15-16 years and despite poor health, a recent case of Covid, and general life difficulties, he said it was always best just to hand in anything one found.

Why did the other guy have it?

Why are there never articles about taxi drivers who pocket the cash? lol

You got too much money if you can forget 60,000 baht. i wouldnt let it out of my sight (not that id ever have sort of cash on me anyway)

Last weekend over 200,000B cash found at the Lotus's parking lot ( Thepprasit/Sukhumvit, Pattaya) was  returned to the owner.  As witnessed by the security guard.

Good on the mate.

I have read the story. Maybe you're confused about the Taxi driver being called "Guy"?

There are only two people involved here; the taxi driver (Guy) and Patcharee, the lady who left the money in his car.

^That's how the story read to me.

Thankfully he did'nt cut off a finger to prove his honesty, it would have made a mess in his taxi!

Proudly orchestrated and sponsored by TAT.
